Limits in the use of certain RHINO commands

Project Curve

The direction of a projection is computed by comparing the points or curves to be projected against the projected points or curves on the receiving surface.  This method presents an limit therefore, which is that one compare multiple points & curves against the projections theselves on a single receiving object (typically a surface). The normal to the construction plane in which points or curve lye is used to compute the direction of projection, which is the same approach as that used by Rhino.

Trim

In Rhino command mode, a solid cannot be cut by a parametric plane because Rhino only recognises the geometry of the plane as having infinite extents. This operation can however be carried using RhinoParametrics.

At the time of this writing, Rhino does not correctly interpret the interruption of the Trim command once the trimming and to-be-trimmed objects have been selected: the Trim is executed anyway.

Moreover, the Rhino command Trim only allows a single trimming object, although it accepts the selection of several to-be-trimmed objects.

To Trim a surface with curves, it's recommended to project or intersect curves on the surface before make the Trim.

Offset Curve

The default corner option is always "sharp".  To change the offset side, use a negative offset value.

Rotation

Rhino only supports 2D rotations.

Therefore, a single point cannot be rotated due to its very nature. Rotation of points is possible with a minimum of 3 points.

Also, new objects cannot be identified if "copy" is active.

Pipe

The Rhino command only supports constant inner and outer diameter (or radius) Pipe objects.  In order to create a variable radius Pipe object, first create representative inner and outer circles at the appropriate locations along the Pipe's centreline, then Loft using the circles.

Ellipse

The Rhino command Ellipse may generate an incorrect object if one of the axis is too short.

Face Extrusion

Rhino extrudes surfaces if and only they have a single face.  In the case of several faces, the information needed to extrude the pobject is not available.

Mirror

Rhino will not mirror several objects if the "copy" option is active.  Turn off "copy" in order to mirror several objects at once.

Sweep 1 & 2

We recommend for the creation of Sweep1 or 2 to have the rails which intersect sections.
Otherwise you could have a drilled result.

The creation of a Loft can appears drilled. To Pour éviter cela, un champ optionnel permet de renseigner une courbe intersectant chaque section. Cela permet de définir la position de la jointure de la surface:

Sans courbe de jointure:
Avec courbe de jointure:

Insert geometry

The Rhino command "_Insert" only works if if the "Separate object" option is checked.
